Current requests for reduction in protection level
[edit]Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin at their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.
- To find out the username of the admin who protected the page click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page" which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
- Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
- Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
- If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected please use the section below.
Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Reason: Page was given an indefinite protection in June 2014 when the subject agreed to move club, effective from July; there was disruptive editing jumping the gun. This is quite clearly not an ongoing issue. IPs can do well with updating things. The page was demoted from GA in 2019 due to lack of update and maintenance. Subject has gone from a high-profile player to an average manager, so risk of vandalism is decreased. Protecting admin has 50 edits in last two years. Unknown Temptation (talk) 17:13, 23 October 2024 (UTC)
- @Ged UK: - courtesy ping, as the last protecting admin. Airplaneman (talk) ✈ 00:03, 25 October 2024 (UTC)
- Not done for now. It would be more effective to write a note on User talk:Ged UK, who has edited only yesterday. There is no hurry about this because WP:There is no deadline. ~Anachronist (talk) 03:44, 26 October 2024 (UTC)
Unprotection: The edits prompting protection were made in good faith after the subject complained about inaccuracies on the page. I've used the post as an WP:ABOUTSELF source, so it should be good now. Thebiguglyalien (talk) 04:09, 24 October 2024 (UTC)
- Please consider this carefully. The primary source disagrees with itself, as noted even by Thebiguglyalien, while the secondary source that was usurped was quite clear. The clearly contentious name and birth dates need to be more thoroughly investigated and solidly sourced before the article contains them; I have removed them for the time being. Since the Facebook post is likely the source of the sudden attention, it is fair to assume more ill informed attempts will continue, at least for a while, and I suggest maintaining the protection until we have consensus and accuracy.

Current requests for edits to a protected page
[edit]Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here
Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.
- Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among
{{Edit protected}}
,{{Edit template-protected}}
,{{Edit extended-protected}}
, or{{Edit semi-protected}}
to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed. - Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the
{{Edit COI}}
template should be used. - Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
- If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
- This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.
My suggestion is to leave out the following 2 sentences in the "German complicity" paragraph as they seem to be based on misunderstandings:
"She also highlighted police suppression of pro-Palestine protests throughout Germany[509] as evidence of state complicity.[508] Karen Wells et al. highlight how Germany has entrenched its complicity in Israel's actions by banning use of the word "genocide" in reference to Israel.[471][better source needed]"
1. In general violent protests are not allowed in Germany. As some of the first pro-Palestine protests were violent, they were sometimes forbidden by courts, if they were expected to turn violent. But that is common policy in Gemany with all subjects and not special for pro-Palestine protests.
Meanwhile, there even is a calendar concerning pro-Palestinian protests[3] with daily up to 20 protests all over Germany. Thus, there is no general police suppression of pro-Palestine protests as is suggested by the current wording.
2. The word “genocide” is not banned in reference to Israel in Germany - maybe that was a misunderstanding: What is not allowed in Germany is to call for genocide against Jews. The slogan “From the river to the sea” is seen as such call and banned. Gilbert04 (talk) 15:34, 11 October 2024 (UTC)

- I can confirm that both statements are broadly true. IMO, the best resource for this discussion (in the contemporary context) is probably Steinberg: Versammlungsfreiheit nach dem 7. However, the subsumption under this offense also causes other problems. On December 2, 2023, the city of Frankfurt am Main had prohibited the person registering a meeting "Peace in the Middle East" from calling for the destruction of Israel during the meeting, from denying the State of Israel the right to exist, and from making the statements "Israel, child murderer," "Jews, child murderer," "Israel kills children" and "From the river to the sea." The Administrative Court of Frankfurt completely lifted these restrictions. In response to the city's complaint, the Administrative Court of Kassel differentiated that calls for the destruction of Israel violated - as mentioned - Section 111 of the Criminal Code and that the statement "Jews, child murderer" constituted incitement to hatred (Section 130 of the Criminal Code). In contrast, other statements such as "Israel, child murderer" or the description of Israeli military operations in Gaza as "genocide" were not objected to and the Administrative Court's decision was upheld in this respect. It can be assumed that children would also be harmed in Israel's military defense actions. Such a lay exaggeration must be accepted within the framework of freedom of expression. On October 21, 2023, the Mannheim Higher Administrative Court upheld a ban on the slogans "Israel, child murderer" and "Israel kills children" by the assembly authority despite existing doubts about their criminal liability; in the interim legal protection procedure, only a summary examination is possible; a statement once made cannot be reversed. The distinction between anti-Semitic and anti-Israeli is certainly a balancing act that cannot be described in detail here.” There is no broad ban on pro-Palestinian protests either, and they were even allowed to happen on Oct. 7 of this year (in some cases). While there are legal disputes on specifics for both, I’m pretty confident that no reasonable person would disagree with “broadly permitted” regarding both claims. FortunateSons (talk) 16:54, 21 October 2024 (UTC)
- Bonus: there can be cases where something isn’t criminal, but can be restricted in other ways, for example due to different burdens of proof or social pressures. FortunateSons (talk) 17:11, 21 October 2024 (UTC)

- Thank you. Maybe the following article gives a bit more clarity.[[7]] Gilbert04 (talk) 18:10, 16 October 2024 (UTC)
- Unfortunately that source seems incomplete. Germany has indeed suppressed peaceful criticism of Israel.[8] And Washington Post says "A planned photo exhibit in southwestern Germany was canceled as a result of social media posts by its curator, including one describing “genocide” in Gaza."[9] VR (Please ping on reply) 22:32, 16 October 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you. Maybe the following article gives a bit more clarity.[[7]] Gilbert04 (talk) 18:10, 16 October 2024 (UTC)
Consider changing "The Israeli government rejected South Africa's allegations, and accused the court of being antisemitic, which it often does when criticised" to "The Israeli government has been accused of consistently weaponizing antisemitism against it's critics, including in the ICJ ruling." Ecco2kstan (talk) 23:12, 13 October 2024 (UTC)
- The Weaponization of antisemitism page hyperlinked over "often done" has many sources to draw from regarding the accusations' consistency and nature.
- My main concern with the original text is that it's voiced as if it's an observation made by a Wikipedian. The benefit here is that the weaponization of antisemitism has a clearer consistency grounded outside of Wikipedia. Perhaps other ways to word this out include adding a time scale (increasingly accused since Oct. 7th) or specifying the critique (against critiques of their actions since Oct 7th).
- If a lead paragraph change is necessary, there may be reason to outline Israeli motives and conditions for the genocide, including Zionism and anti-Arab racism. Ecco2kstan (talk) 23:25, 13 October 2024 (UTC)
- @Ecco2kstan, how about: "The Israeli government rejected South Africa's allegations. Supporters of Israel say that accusing Israel of genocide is both antisemitic[12][13] and a form of Holocaust erasure[14], but others argue antisemitism shouldn't be exploited to shield Israel from such allegations.[15][16][17][18]".VR (Please ping on reply) 00:12, 16 October 2024 (UTC)
- I'm not as familiar with the Holocaust erasure claims, but I'm happy with that reworking! If that weaponization of Holocaust denial detail isn't on the weaponization of antisemitism page already, it might be a worthwhile phenomenon incorporate if there's more citations you can find. I might look into it myself. Thanks! Ecco2kstan (talk) 03:10, 16 October 2024 (UTC)

Autopatrolled[edit]
They created 141 articles, with only one being deleted under G6, which is not a big issue. Their creations include BLPs and species-related articles, and no significant issues were found during checks. Two of their creations were taken to AfD but were later kept. I hope they can be added to AP. It’s up to you. Thanks. GrabUp - Talk 13:52, 24 October 2024 (UTC)
I've been reviewing this user's contributions at AfC and I have consistently seen clean articles, and they have created 68, which is well above minimum standard. It is my understanding that AfCs approved by non-autopatrolled users (like me) go to the NPP queue, and because NPP is facing a huge backlog, I think that giving autopatrol would be beneficial for the backlog. ❤HistoryTheorist❤ 02:17, 25 October 2024 (UTC)

I'd like to keep using AutoWikiBrowser to better add WikiProjects to talk pages in other languages, such as those in the Vietnamese versions of Establishments in Italy by year, as well as fixing (not necessarily removing like before) unknown parameters in templates. OpalYosutebito (talk) 13:22, 2 October 2024 (UTC)
I would love to use this for category maintenance and WikiProject tagging across a wide spread of articles quickly. (Oinkers42) (talk) 22:21, 3 October 2024 (UTC)
I would like to use AWB for fixing various puntuations and citations issues found on WP:NPP and articles within my scope as sometimes it's hard to notice it. Warm Regards, Miminity (Talk?) (me contribs) 12:15, 15 October 2024 (UTC)
I need to add 'Flag of X District' and 'Flag of Y Region' categories to around 3,000 Slovakian flags, doing just about 5% manually took a full day. EnzoTC (talk) 04:09, 18 October 2024 (UTC)
I write to request permission to use AutoWikiBrowser to facilitate identification of duplicate references; I understand that the tool only identifies exact duplicates, and that I must check every edit before saving it. spida-tarbell 𐡸 (talk • contribs) 21:17, 18 October 2024 (UTC)
There are about 200 templates at Category:South Korea pop music group navigational boxes, Category:Girl group navigational boxes, and Category:Boy band navigational boxes that are members of content categories and shouldn't be per the guideline at WP:CAT#T. Hoping to automate their removal. RachelTensions (talk) 02:08, 20 October 2024 (UTC)
Reason for requesting autowikibrowser rights I need to help I make good edits that are very good I help revert vandalism Gladcape2013 (talk) 20:30, 20 October 2024 (UTC)
petscan:29601810 shows several hundred biographies with inconsistent categories. Depending on the subject, the solution is either replacing Category:Year of birth missing (living people) with Category:Year of birth missing, or adding Category:Living people. It's very repetitive (even with HotCat), but I don't think a bot could reliably decide which solution to apply. I'm requesting AWB access because it seems like the right kind of semi-automated tool for this job. jlwoodwa (talk) 01:39, 21 October 2024 (UTC)
Reason for requesting autowikibrowser rights: I have achieved 500 mainspace edits and I feel like this tool will be used so that I can contribute to wikipedia while expanding my knowledge of it- as well as how these tools work. This tool will be handy in my improvement of wikipedia articles no matter stub or good articles. This tool will be so handy in fixing problems that are in multiple articles! Thanks, ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) Cooldudeseven7 join in on the tea talk 13:04, 24 October 2024 (UTC)
(See rescinded previous request.) There are many tasks I undertake that AWB would make easier, but the immediate task is finding 'what redirects here' for Effective radiated power to clean its odd anchor 'Equivalent radiated power (Redirected)' in the second paragraph. I do a fair bit of redirect work, so the ability to examine database dumps without dragging out my minimal MariaDB chops would be nice. I need to dig into Pywikibot as well, but I'd like to try the GUI offered by AWB. Tule-hog (talk) 16:18, 24 October 2024 (UTC)
Daniel Quinlan suggested I might try using JWB to help clean up mistargeted wikilinks after a page move. I've been reading the manual and I think I can have some occasional use with this. Thanks, Fathoms Below (talk) 19:42, 24 October 2024 (UTC)

New page reviewer[edit]
I'd like to request NPR rights. I have prior experience with AfC and NPP, so I'm familiar with the process of reviewing new pages. I'm confident in my understanding of notability guidelines and can easily spot paid/COI editing, as well as unreliable and branded sources. I am also familiar with WP:DP, WP:NOBITING, and CSD I understand the importance of careful, fair reviews and will do my best to uphold the quality of content on Wikipedia. Thank you! TheBirdsShedTears (talk) 06:37, 21 October 2024 (UTC)
Hello there, Im contributing to wiki nearly a decade; my edit count is near 600. From the last two months, I've been actively contributing or trying to. Can I be considered a reviewer? Thanks! UzbukUdash (talk) 17:29, 22 October 2024 (UTC)
I have sufficient experience with the deletion process and have been very active on WP:AFD where I have made policy based votes and feel very comfortable evaluating notability. Please see my AFD history. I have also read and understood the content policies and guidelines. RangersRus (talk) 21:18, 22 October 2024 (UTC)
RE-Request Hello, again. Recently reached the 500-edit count in main category. I'm here in the wiki nearly ten years; can I be a reviewer? In earlier request, I got confused with the criteria of edit count. thanks! UzbukUdash (talk) 10:54, 23 October 2024 (UTC)
Greetings, I have been volunteering with the goal to improve the WikiProject for the last 5 years, creating and updating articles mostly in the political area while trying to maintain as high impartiality as possible as well as following all rules established. I've since last year been granted Autopatrolled and in the granted message got asked to consider volunteering for this role too which i'm willing to do, to essentially help with making sure new articles (in the backlog) are in line with the rules. BastianMAT (talk) 13:22, 23 October 2024 (UTC)
I would like to request NPR rights to assist in clearing out the backlog and maintaining the expected quality of new content. I have a few months of experience in AfC reviewing, and somewhat less experience with AfD, but occasionally monitor the PROD and speedy deletion categories and have PRODed some un-improvable articles in the past when working through Category:Unassessed articles (though at the time I didn't have the PROD log set up). I aim to help other editors understand Wikipedia's policies in a straightforward and friendly way, new or otherwise, to help them in the new page creation process and to reduce the burden on reviewers in the future. My PERM is about to expire. I would like to gain more exprience. My first day was kinda rough but been grown up a bit and make only a little mistake since then. I would like to extend it a bit more. Thanks Warm Regards, Miminity (Talk?) (me contribs) 08:17, 24 October 2024 (UTC)

Requests for page mover |

Page mover[edit]
I'd like to get this right to delete unnecessary redirects (i.e. move pages over existing single revision redirects regardless of target). Additionally, I would also like to try to harmonize some pages of Spanish municipalities with the name of the country and the province (when necessary) instead of other subnational units (such as comarca). Moreover if a double denomination exists in some cases, I shall use the slash with spaces in between to enhance visual effect of different linguistic nomenclatures. However if an English form is more relevant I shall use it instead of double and local denominations. Other than that I could help elsewhere to move pages if necessary. Thank you, Nuvolet (talk)

Pending changes reviewer[edit]
Reason for requesting pending changes reviewer rights: I am an Wikipedian for more than three years and part of various wikiprojects I need permission to expand my works on Wikipedia and also to observe Wikipedia articles. Cactinites (talk) 15:28, 23 September 2024 (UTC)
To review pending changes on Wikipedia Gonzafer001 (talk) 09:16, 7 October 2024 (UTC)
I’d like to request pending changes reviewer rights. I have been active on Wikipedia for a while, focusing on improving content quality and helping maintain the integrity of articles. I am not new to reviewing edits, as I use edit-request tools to answer several requests by unregistered/registered editors that wish to see changes on several articles. I have read all policies on how to handle this right and know the responsibly that comes alongside it. 𝚈𝚘𝚟𝚝 (𝚝𝚊𝚕𝚔𝚟𝚝) 16:12, 16 October 2024 (UTC)
I like helping out and reviewing recent changes, and I would like to be able to contribute further by receiving pending changes reviewer rights. Imconfused3456talk 01:31, 20 October 2024 (UTC)
I would like to help contribute to the Wikipedia community and help reviews happen quicker. I am passionate about unbiased true information being presented and I think this would be a good privilege for me. BittersweetParadox (talk) 07:41, 22 October 2024 (UTC)
I have been reviewing changes on many pages made by editors and IPs and helped by improving and protecting pages from vandalism. My editing history will prove that I am very capable and can be great help. I did set aside time and read and understood guidelines for vandalism, Reviewing pending changes and Protection policies before submitting this request. RangersRus (talk) 14:53, 22 October 2024 (UTC)
Hi! I've been patrolling recent changes and reverting vandalism for a while, as well as contributing to AfD, CSD and creating some of my own articles. I'd like Pending Changes Reviewer because sometimes when I'm patrolling I see pending changes to a page that are constructive and I'd like to accept them. Thanks for your time! MolecularPilot 04:09, 24 October 2024 (UTC)
I've been patrolling Recent Changes since August 28, 2024, and I helping to review pending changes. Thanks. Ampil (Ταικ • Cοnτribυτιοns) 02:25, 25 October 2024 (UTC)
I would love to review and either accept or decline edits made to articles or pages under pending changes protection. I'm a New Page Reviewer and I'll like to review pending changes too. I’ve read the guidelines and have a clear understanding of them. Comr Melody Idoghor (talk) 09:23, 25 October 2024 (UTC)

Requests for rollback |

Rollback[edit]
Requesting rollback to assist with reverting vandalism. I was granted this previously on a temporary basis a few years but later took a break and never renewed it. Thanks in advance. -OXYLYPSE (talk) 21:26, 22 October 2024 (UTC)
With reference to my previous request for rollback rights submitted on 24 September 2024link and the advice received, I would like to re-submit my request. I have actively patrolled recent changes, reverting unconstructive or disruptive edits, addressing vandalism, and consistently warning editors. In more severe cases, I have reported offenders to administrators for further action and also requested for page protection. I have primarily used Twinkle for these tasks, alongside performing manual reverts. I believe that rollback rights would be a valuable addition to the tools currently available to me and going forward. Thank you. QEnigma (talk) 00:54, 25 October 2024 (UTC)
I've been patrolling Recent Changes since August 28, 2024, I've revert vandailsm and LTAs, I'am over 200 reverts form vandalism, and I'am interested the tools named AntiVandal and SWViewer, so I can patrol more faster. Criteria to make Successful:
Thanks. (please mention me on reply)
I have removed and reverted various vandal edits as well as unsourced edits.But when there are more than 1 vandal edits it becomes very tedious to do manually so I want to use this tool for such purposes.You may find not leaving an edit warning as a problem but I promise I will take care of it and I am even improving it as well.Thanks.
